Grandmaster Michael Munyon began his martial arts training in 1979 and has devoted his life to training and teaching. His background joins traditional martial arts with decades of real-world experience in law enforcement, military security, and personal defense instruction.

He served in U.S. Air Force Security Forces and Investigations from 1992 to 2015. He managed security and law enforcement operations at Air Force bases in the United States and overseas, and led teams on many deployments providing air base defense, force protection, and anti-terrorism. Since 2015 he has run Munyon Tactical, where he has trained thousands of students in self-defense, use of force, firearms, and less-lethal options. He has also written books on safety and security and teaches across the United States and overseas.

“I’ve been awarded my 9th Dan in Taekwon-Do. This honor was made possible by Grandmaster Robert Dunn and Grandmaster Edward Minyard, who discussed my promotion at the official Taekwondo Hall of Fame in New York. My one request was that my instructor, friend, and mentor, Grandmaster Peter Sanders, give his approval, and he did. I hope to keep training and teaching Taekwon-Do the way I was taught by Taekwon-Do pioneers and ITF leaders.”

His recognitions include induction into eight Halls of Fame and the 2025 Heroes of the Gulf Coast Award from 105.7 FM.
